Shanghai's trade import and export continued to stabilize and rebound
2022-07-19
Shanghai's foreign trade stood the test of the epidemic in the first half of this year. Although the import and export fell sharply and deeply in April, with the acceleration of the resumption of work and production in Shanghai, the industrial chain supply chain tends to be repaired, the social operation gradually returns to normal, and the import and export continue to stabilize and rebound.
In the first half of the year, Shanghai's foreign trade showed the following highlights:
First, the two major market players, foreign capital and private enterprises, remain energetic. Since the outbreak of this round of epidemic, Shanghai has successively issued a number of white lists of key foreign trade enterprises, fully supporting foreign trade leading enterprises, important supporting service enterprises, as well as "specialized, refined, special, new" and other small and medium-sized enterprises to resume import and export business, while mobilizing all forces to actively help foreign trade enterprises solve epidemic prevention, employment, logistics, capital and other problems.
Second, the advantages of open platforms such as the comprehensive bonded zone have been further highlighted. The Shanghai opening-up platform gives full play to the functions of efficiently allocating domestic and foreign resources and connecting domestic and foreign markets smoothly, realizing the superposition of advantages of industrial agglomeration and convenient ports, and has played a significant role in resisting the huge impact of the epidemic.
Third, the advanced manufacturing industry led the city's export recovery. Shanghai has gathered a large number of advanced manufacturing industries and technological subjects, forming a considerable industrial cluster, and high-tech products play an important role in the city's exports.
Fourth, the import and procurement of means of production gradually recovered. Driven by the national and Shanghai municipal policies to ensure connectivity, with the gradual improvement of the cross-border trade environment, the key foreign trade supply chain has accelerated to achieve normal operation, forming a strong support for the import of raw materials and intermediate products.
According to the data of the first half of the year, Shanghai's foreign trade remained resilient. At present, the domestic economy is generally stable and improving. Driven by various measures to promote the stability and quality of foreign trade, Shanghai's foreign trade will withstand the pressure of fluctuations in the international market and the contraction of foreign demand. It is expected that Shanghai's foreign trade import and export will further accelerate and improve the quality in the second half of the year.
